There are many countries where agreements
have already been reached and
may
visit Latvia without a VISA. Obtaining a Visas to Latvia may be a time consuming process. If you have
a business partner or personal contact in Latvia, the process becomes much easier.
The following is our summary of what we believe to be the process. Please
visit the Republic of Latvia official website (links below) and read all the
information carefully. Our information is NOT official and may be incorrect as
the requirements do change over time.
The Latvian Foreign Ministry website
has a lot more information.
If you have a local contact person or business partner, they first go to the Latvian Tax office and gets a
form that says they or their company has paid its taxes. They take this tax form along with
your
documents passport copy, your family's passport copy, your home
address and a letter on company letterhead making a case for a formal visit to Latvia for you and your family to the Latvian Foreign Ministry
Visa office and applies for a formal invitation for your family.
This whole process takes about one week. The Latvian visa office
forwards all this to the place where your Visa's will be processed.
Maybe here in Riga and maybe in the country closest to you?
Cost is around 35 Ls (about 50 Euros) or less for the local company or person.
There may be a fee
at the Latvian Embassy or Consulate as well.
As we are a private tourist office, we are not in a position to assist
you. We can only tell you our personal experiences and reading between the lines.

Foreign Ministry's website.
When applying for a VISA at any Embassy
or Consulate of the Republic of Latvia abroad, or, in the event of a visa-free
regime being applicable,
when
entering the Republic of Latvia via an official border-crossing point, a
foreign national will be required to present a valid travel health insurance
policy guaranteeing the coverage of costs associated with health care
incurred in the Republic of Latvia, including those associated with transport
of the foreign national to his or her country of permanent residence in the
event of serious illness or death.
