Patricia Tourist Office in Riga is expanding a program to locate and motivate Latvian expats living abroad to return for visits to the country of their heritage.

We are actively searching for journalists, publications and travel club coordinators   in North America, Australia, New Zealand and other countries to join with us to prepare human interest stories about the exciting and sometimes emotional reactions of the returning visitors.   more info

We realize that our core competency is being a tourist office and greeting guests. We know that we are NOT journalists and as such we do not want to try to become journalists.

Therefore, we are looking for professional journalists that are looking for exciting stories to sell their publications to readers. It should be a "win-win" situation. We find the story ideas and details and the professional writes prepare and sell the stories.

At this time, we have one professional journalist participating with us and that is Mr. Aleks Tapinsh form Mishawaka, Indiana USA and publishes a website www.allaboutlatvia.com. He is also a journalist for a local newspaper.

Our overall goal is to locate and develop relationships with similar professionals in all major markets are out North America and other countries where Latvians have immigrated to. From what we are finding, Latvians are in many places and tend not to centralize like other ethnic expats.

In addition, we also believe there is a role for travel clubs in this effort. Our stories and the features of a Latvia excursion may be of extreme interest to their members and may be told at their local travel club meetings. Patricia Tourist office will provide videos, posters, maps and other handout information at no cost to the local travel clubs. In addition, our Riga based travel consultants will be available to call in on conference telephones to answer any questions that may arise during the meetings.
